“Antipasto” literally means “before the meal”. Serve these delicious skewers as an appetizer for happy guests.

Just don’t fill up on them before you get to the main course… that’s always my issue with delicious appetizers. 😛

This is a kind of no-recipe recipe we’ve got here. I struggled writing it up because there’s not too much involved here, and estimating ingredient quantities is kind of fruitless since it depends on so many factors. The size of the skewers you use, how much you load them up, how many people you want to serve… etc.

Antipasto on a stick, though… genius, right? Haha. Ok, I’ve seen them around, so I can’t take full credit for inventing them or anything. 😉

At least for the skewers I made, I did not run out of anything. I bought one jar/package of each ingredient, and I made about 10 skewers and had some of everything left over.

Just eyeball it, I guess (sorry, I am not being very helpful here, I know). Anyway, I hope this at least gives you some ideas.

I included bocconcini, pepperoncini, green olives, soppressata salami, and artichoke hearts. And I did not spell 3/5 of those correctly. Yikes.

Some other things you could include on your antipasto skewers:

  • mushrooms
  • roasted red peppers
  • prosciutto, mortadella, or other cured meats
  • other varieties of olives
  • other cheeses e.g. Pecorino or provolone
  • small pieces of bread such as ciabatta or focaccia
  • caperberries
  • figs

These are great holiday party appetizers or even New Year’s Eve appetizers. Or like anytime really. I’ve met few people who dislike antipasto.

You could even skip the skewers and serve this as an antipasto platter. Easy entertaining at its finest! No one wants to overthink on the holidays when we really should all be enjoying ourselves, right?

Easy Antipasto Skewers

These easy antipasto skewers are fresh, colorful, delicious, and come together fast. They're also simple to store and transport without much fuss.
Prep: 20 minutes
Total: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Artichoke hearts (I bought ones in a jar)
  • Soppressata salami
  • Pepperoncini peppers (sold in jars in the pickle aisle)
  • Mini bocconcini cheese
  • Green olives (sold in jars in the pickle aisle)

Instructions

  • I find it easiest to lay out your ingredients on a plate so you can do a sort of assembly line.
  • Assemble the skewers as desired.
  • Cover and refrigerate if not serving immediately. I'd take it out of the fridge at least 10-15 minutes prior to serving to let the cheese warm up a bit.

Notes

  • It's tough to say exact sizes to buy for the ingredients since it really depends on how many skewers you make, how long the skewer sticks are, and how much you load them up.
