This refreshing elderflower mocktail is made with elderflower syrup, so it’s quick, simple, and doesn’t take much effort! The perfect alcohol-free summer drink.
Elderflower is definitely more popular in the U.K. than here in North America. Every year, my English blogging friends post Instagram photos where they’re picking elderflowers and making their own syrups.
My husband is originally from England, so he is very familiar with elderflowers, so I asked him to help me develop an easy elderflower mocktail recipe.
Sadly, I can’t say I have ever seen real elderflowers here in Canada, but I was able to buy some elderflower syrup. In IKEA of all places!
Elderflowers have pretty little white blossoms and taste subtly floral. It’s hard to describe how a flower tastes, so bear with me. 😛
If you’ve ever had lavender in food, I find that has a stronger flavor than elderflowers have. The floral notes mixed into a sweet syrup just tastes wonderful. Summer in a glass! Not like you’re drinking perfume.
If you’ve ever had Saint Germain liqueur, it’s based on the elderflower.
Here’s a good elderflower cordial/syrup recipe from one of my blogging buddies if you’re interested in making your own. I also found an elderflower syrup you can buy from Amazon, but I haven’t tried it myself.
Pro tip: This non-alcoholic elderflower drink is delicious as-is, but if you do want to turn this mocktail into a cocktail, all you need to do is add a shot (or two) of vodka.
Will you give this easy summer mocktail recipe a try?
