Try this classic iceberg wedge salad with homemade ranch dressing and bacon! Perfect for an appetizer or side salad.

two iceberg lettuce wedges with ranch and bacon dressing and lemon slice

I don’t like blue cheese so I wasn’t about to make a blue cheese wedge salad. Plus, there’s plenty of those on the internet.

I absolutely love my homemade ranch dressing, and it works perfectly on a wedge of iceberg lettuce. Bacon is a common ingredient in your classic wedge salad, and you definitely don’t have to twist my arm to use it!

Grilled shrimp would also work fantastically in this salad. Hard boiled eggs would work too.

If you’re anything like me, you’ll want to artfully (well, I tried) drizzle the dressing onto the salad, and then ensure the rest of the dressing is nearby so you can add more as needed.

Will you make this iceberg wedge salad with homemade ranch dressing and bacon?

Classic Iceberg Wedge Salad with Homemade Ranch Dressing and Bacon

Iceberg lettuce with bacon and homemade ranch dressing - the perfect simple appetizer or side salad.
Prep: 10 minutes
Cook: 15 minutes
Total: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

Dressing

  • Ranch dressing to taste
  • Iceberg lettuce
  • 4-6 strips bacon
  • Lemon slices (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the ranch dressing. It does taste better if you let it sit in the fridge for a few hours, but it's also fine to serve it right away.
  • Cut bacon into small pieces (I use kitchen shears) and fry until crispy. Once bacon is cooked, place onto a paper towel lined plate to soak up extra grease.
  • Cut iceberg lettuce into quarters.
  • Drizzle dressing over wedges and then sprinkle on the bacon. Garnish with a slice of lemon if desired.

I agree, I am not a fan of blue cheese either. And you can never go wrong with bacon! I love the idea of adding shrimp to this, sounds amazing!

Mmm… Looks yummy! I recently had a salad like this at Applebeeโ€™s. It was fantastic. Do you have Applebee’s in Canada?

I think we do… I am not sure I’ve ever been to one, though.
